Abstrak

Comparison of the phytoremediation method between watercress (pistia stratiotes) and water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) in reducing ammonia levels (a case study of tofu wastewater). The tofu industry produces liquid waste, this waste contains ammonia which can damage the environment, because it must be managed first using the phytoremediation method, the plants used are water hyacinth and water hyacinth because these two plants are weeds. The purpose of this study was to find out which method is better between water hyacinth and water hyacinth in reducing ammonia levels in tofu liquid waste. This experimental type of research used watercress (Pistia stratiotes) and water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) to determine the reduction of ammonia levels in tofu liquid waste. The research design was a quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test designs with two comparison treatments. The samples consisted of 12 water hyacinth samples, 12 water hyacinth samples, and 4 control samples. Data analysis using Wilcoxon. The results showed that the control experienced a 27.3 percent decrease, water hyacinth weighing 300, 600, 900 grams decreased 80.3, 82.7, 74.1 percent decreased, water hyacinth weighing 300, 600, 900 grams decreased 74 .5, 77.7, 86.4 percent decrease. The results of the statistical test obtained a value of p = 0.001, so this value is smaller than (<) α (0.05). It shows that there is a difference between before and after the phytoremediation process using watercress (Pistia stratiotes) and water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) in reducing ammonia levels in tofu wastewater
