Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Kesehatan Lingkungan: Jurnal dan Aplikasi Teknik Kesehatan Lingkungan undergo a rigorous and transparent peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific integrity of published articles. The editorial process is managed by an editorial team consisting of 5 editors and supported by 15 reviewers from both national and international institutions with expertise in environmental health and related fields.
The review process consists of the following stages:
- Initial Editorial Screening: The Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor evaluates the manuscript for relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, compliance with author guidelines, and similarity screening using plagiarism detection software.
- Double-Blind Peer Review: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers. The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process to ensure an unbiased evaluation.
- Review Evaluation Criteria: Reviewers assess manuscripts based on:
- Originality and scientific contribution
- Methodological rigor and validity
- Relevance to environmental health sciences
- Clarity and coherence of analysis and discussion
- Compliance with ethical standards and reporting guidelines
- Editorial Decision: Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the editor may decide to accept, request minor or major revisions, or reject the manuscript.
The average review process takes approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the extent of revisions required. The entire peer-review workflow is managed through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform to ensure transparency, accountability, and traceability.
